On February 12th the official reception of the two newest parks in the Valdebebas district, was signed by José Luis Infanzón, Director General of Public Space, Construction and Infrastructure of the Madrid City Council, and Marcos Sánchez Foncueva, Head of the Valdebebas Property Board. With these new parks over 17 acres have been added to the green areas, one of the hallmarks of the new planned district.
The annual International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) Europe General Assembly took place in Greenwich (London) from 6 – 9 of September 2018 and included the conference ´Valuing Landscape, connecting people, place and nature´.
The Landscape Bioengineering Association organized its III R&D Bioengineering Event May 9th and 10th at the Forestry Engineering College of the Madrid Polytechnic University, this year dedicated to Green Infrastructure and Sustainable Drainage systems. The objective of this event was to analyze the future of green infrastructure and sustainable drainage concepts in the urban realm, and the management of flood risk with these solutions, integrating watershed and urban planning, landscape bioengineering and hydrology techniques. Susana Canogar participated with a presentation on sustainable drainage and landscaping at the Valdebebas development project in Madrid.
On March 23, the second of the lecture series on planning issues organized by the Real Fundación Toledo, took place at the Foundation headquarters at Roca Tarpeya, Toledo. The event included an opening statement by Juan Ignacio de la Mesa, President of the Foundation and former mayor of Toledo, followed by an introductory lecture given by Susana Canogar, followed by presentations by J. Antonio Zárate, geographer and a dissetation by the coordinator of the event, architect J. Ramón de la Cal, with closinf statements by the pretigious urban planner Eduardo Mangada.
