COMMON AREAS AND ROOFTOP GARDENS OR PRICE CONTROLLED HOUSING, MADRID

Madrid, 2014

Developer: Valenor

Surface area: 4.500 m2

Team: Evergreen Paisajismo

The project aimed to create central green areas offering pleasant community space for the more than 150 residents of the complex. A central lawn area and swimming pool is surrounded by perimeter plantings with maximum effect in the summer when the pool is in use.

The planting scheme combines ornamental grasses, shrubs, perennials and trees, all with great seasonal variation but low maintenance requirements. The planting bed design plays off the façade detailing so integrating the garden into the global architectural design.

The large rooftop garden over the commercial units of the complex have been planted with species adapted to the extreme climate of Madrid, helping to thermally isolate the units below while significantly improving the views of the residents looking over the commercial plaza area.
