Valdebebas Central Park was conceived as a large park to be developed in two different time frames: a large green area where the proposal is to regenerate the former mosaic of forest and agrarian landscapes, and the urban front as a promenade for the urban development, a threshold to the larger landscape at the center of the project.

Along the almost three miles of promenade, partly constructed, there are diverse public spaces: from a main welcome plaza with amenities next to the rapid transit station: information booth, performance plaza, and refreshment kiosk to the variety of seating areas, playgrounds and exercise stations along the promenade, separated by planting areas with a strong seasonal character to be enjoyed throughout the year. This promenade benefits from the multiple restaurants and outdoor dining areas that have opened along the urban edge.

The main plaza of the promenade is a popular central destination and serves as a balcony over the lagoon, with excellent views of the greater landscape beyond.

The project is based on ´Sun and Shade`, the winning entry of the International Ideas Competition for an Urban Park in Valdebebas in 2009.

Estimated completion date: June 2022
